The world needs more Addison

Inspired by Jenny's last comment on my blog, I agree...The world needs more Addison! Here is what we've been up to the last couple of days.

Balloon Fest!

Who says there's not anything fun to do in West Texas??? Last weekend, my parents, Addie, and I ventured out to Ballon Fest. It was so much fun! We looked at fun booths, watched a tandem kite team, enjoyed some live music (not quite the live music capital of the world, but it was great nonetheless!), watched the hot air balloons blow up and then watched the "glow" before heading home. (Glow is where all the balloons light up at the same time.) A great time was had by all! Here are a few shots from my dad's iphone.

This was what Addie looked like during most of our picture taking session. She preferred chasing all the dogs in the park to anything. She did NOT want to be held!


My favorite is the balloon on the left. Ha! That was my dad's thumb. Bless his heart. He is still getting used to the camera position on his new phone.


Addie was tuckered out. She loved Papa's golf glove so much, she fell asleep with it on!

I know my husband would prefer if I went private, and maybe I will one of these days. But, for now I would love to be able to see my friends seemingly long lost blogs. Busy, busy, busy

Our life has been a whirlwind, and I have neglected to send any updates! Here is a brief synopsis for those who are interested...

Addie went back to the pediatric cardiologist at the end of August, and we got a great report. Addison did not want to lie on the table for her echo, so she proceeded to scream through the entire procedure. Therefore, her numbers were a little higher than the dr. expected. But, she said the echo looked like her arteries had widened slightly since her last appt. Yay! So, instead of having an echo every three months, we don't have to go back for another year.

Here is a shot of Addie as I was trying to leave for work in the first week of school. Little stinker. Apparently, she didn't approve of Mommy going to work.


Nonnie and Paw Paw (also known as our great neighbors)loaned Addie this horse that sings a little song. It didn't take her long to learn to rock back and forth instead of just sitting on it and dancing. ha!


Addison continues to love climbing on things, even the dog. This picture was not posed, and for the sake of my mom, yes, it was properly supervised! Lucy really did just lay there, and Addie climbed on all by herself. (Notice the tupperware on the floor. Addison likes to empty the cabinets of all the tupperware, and relocate it to funny places around the house. I'm still looking for some of my lids.)


And here's what happens when the dog gets tired of playing the role of "horse." (Addie tried to "ride" Lucy just like she rides her new rocking horse, minus the music).


A couple of weeks ago, we made the trek to the mountains of north Georgia for the wedding of Andy's best man from our wedding. Over the past month, Addie had suffered episodes of HORRIBLE diaper rash that she just couldn't kick. We tried everything. so, the day we were leaving for our trip, we went to the dr. With two sets of meds in hand, and using only washcloths instead of wipes, we were ready to roll. I was nervous about flying with a squirmy, active 13 month old. So, we gave her Benadryl. That backfired. She was so tired she screamed for half the flight there. Awesome. She ended up sleeping on the floor of the plane under our feet. When we got there, we had a great time catching up with old friends. So how did the wedding go? Great...with a few times of excitement.
--The aunt of the bride, and wedding coordinator, fell the day before the wedding, on her face. She ended up with a broken nose, fractured cheek bone, and two black eyes.
--The brother of the groom had a sty in his eye, and it was swollen shut.
--The father of the bride, a few minutes after walking back down the aisle after the ceremony, passed out and had a massive seizure. The ambulance came and everything. He turned out to be alright and made it back from the hospital by the very end of the reception.

The parents of the groom...Andy's second set of parent's growing up...Gramby and Gramps. They were amazing hosts, even in the midst of all the wedding madness. Bess bought food, diapers, wipes, washcloths, and milk for Addie, and set up her own bed, high chair, toys, and sippy cups. We couldn't ask for anything more!


We also were able to meet up with one of Andy's college roommates (and a good friend of mine, too) and his wife, for dinner. We wish they lived closer!

Signing: dada (her favorite right now), diaper (she even told me this morning when she had a dirty diaper), hello, eat, milk, more, finished, book, please (even putting two signs together).
New tricks:
-Waving at EVERYTHING (lights, balloons, birds, airplanes)
-Opening the shower door (while I'm in it:)
-Dancing (to any music, or when you ask her to)
-Sleeping on her new nap mat at school
-Not just taking things OUT, but also putting things back IN (not always in the right place, but you can only ask for so much)
-Wearing mommy and daddy's shoes around the house
-Drawing with chalk on the driveway
-Working on walking in the grass
-Trying to put on her own shoes

And more good news--Andy's mom (Gran-ma) is out of the hospital and back at home. Addie prays for her every night, and God must have been listening! She finally has a diagnosis and a treatment and after many, many months, is beginning to feel like herself again. We are so glad. We can't wait for Gran-ma to come and visit!

Better late than never

With school starting and my house in a seemingly endless upheaval, I have neglected my blogging. My good friend Candace, posted her pix from Addie's birthday, so I have a renewed desire to post. Here are a few from her blog that I stole to put on mine. We were brave to attempt fingerpainting with a porchfull of 4 and unders. Super-fun. I recommend it. With a hose and a bottle of shout on hand. Here are a few of Candace's shots.

And the paci. It's going to be traumatic when the paci goes away. We're not ready for that yet, though. We are sticking to a paci at bedtime, but sometimes she finds a stray.

I am depressed.

Yesterday our GAP closed. Forever. I am feeling sad and depressed. Where will I browse so happily in the sale section? I guess I will have to visit my old friend GAP when I go to Austin or Allen. I am still depressed. Yuck.

I will miss you, GAP.

Unfortunately, I have been a bad blogger these days. I haven't actually written much on my posts, but just put up pictures. I always think of things that I would like to blog about, until I start up the computer, then I forget. I'm sure most people just want to see pictures, and are fairly uninterested in my thoughts or little life happenings. I am going to make a mid-year resolution to post better updates with words and pictures. Hold me to it, blogger friends!
